Hoosier Hill Farm Carob Drops are naturally sweet and delicious. These drops are often used as a substitute for chocolate or cocoa powder in cakes, cookies, and candy. Substitute carob chips for chocolate chips in cookies and muffins. 1 lb. Hoosier Hill Farm premium Carob Drops (Sweetened) in a resealable bag. Carob chips are a good substitute for chocolate chips. Any recipe calling for chocolate chips can use Carob chips. Carob flavor is similar to cocoa without the caffeine of regular chocolate.

Carob Fudge

4 cups Hoosier Hill Farm Carob Drops
1 cup peanut butter or almond butter
1 cup chopped nuts
1 cup raisins

Place carob chips and peanut butter in a double boiler over low heat. Stir constantly. As soon as the chips start to melt, remove from heat and stir well to mix with peanut butter. place nuts and raisins in a flat casserole dish and add melted chips and peanut butter. Mix together well. Press mixture into casserole dish and chill.



Dog treats

3/4 cup rolled oats
2 cups whole wheat flour
4 tsp carob powder
1 cup natural peanut butter
1 cup milk, low or fat free
1/4 cup Hoosier Hill Farm Carob Drops

Preheat oven to 350° F

In a large bowl, whisk together the oats, flour, and carob powder. In a microwave safe bowl, warm the peanut butter for approximately 30 seconds. In a small bowl, whisk the warmed peanut butter and milk together with a fork until thoroughly combined. Make a well in the dry ingredients and pour in the peanut butter mixture. With a wooden spoon, stir until combined. The dough will be very thick. Fold in the carob drops. Place a sheet of parchment paper on a baking sheet. Using a 1 inch cookie scooper, pack the fudge-like dog cookie dough into the scooper with your hands. Release the ball and once on the baking sheet, flatten to a cookie shape. Bake for 15 minutes. Cool completely on a wire rack. Or, leave in the oven, once turned off, to cool and harden for 2 hours.
*Keep these carob dog treats in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. Freeze and use before the end of 6 months.

Approximately 42 cookies, or 3 1/2 dozen (1 inch)
Sugar, partially hydrogenated palm kernel oil, carob powder, soy lecithin (an emulsifier).

These are pretty darn good! I haven't used them much for baking yet, but my roommate's dog loves them. Definitely keep them around as pet treats, if nothing else. Maybe not the healthiest way to get your carob, but if you're looking for a substitute for chocolate chips, they're not bad.
