A free flowing diastatic powder, old fashion dry malt powder is formulated to provide an economical combination of enzymatic activity, sweetness and appealing crust color to baked goods such as French and Italian breads.

When replacing diastatic syrup, use the same levels and add 4 ounce of water for every pound of dry malt powder.

While this is not an essential ingredient for bread, it sure does add an extra flavor that's wonderful! Most recipes call for only about a teaspoon or so, so this jar will last a very long time. Makes a novice bread maker look really good!

Lets be honest. I bought this because of Chefsteps. Since receiving this I put it in EVERYTHING. Bread dough, Check! Pizza dough, Check! Waffles, Check! I'm even convinced that if I were to sprinkle it on my wife...
