Chestnuts are low in protein and fat but high in carbohydrates; they also provide Vitamins B and E along with Potassium. Chestnut powder was the original powder used in making pasta within the Roman Empire. Our Chestnut powder is pale white and fine, made from the grinding of whole Chestnuts without their bitter skins.

Chestnut Powder can be used instead of Wheat Flour, or mixed with flour in baked goods. It adds a light nutty flavor to desserts, cakes, cookies and pie crusts. Use it to thicken puddings and sauces.

Shelf Life: 10-12 Months.

1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp apple cider vinegar

1/2 cup almond flour
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder

I use chestnut flour in lieu of wheat flour to make buckwheat pancakes. This particular flour was clumping in milk; I had to spend quite some time breaking many dense flour clumps.Clumping is not a property of the chestnut flour per se. Prior to using this product, I used another brand of the chestnut flour, and it was not clumping at all. Unfortunately, that other brand is no longer available on Hoosier Hill Farm.I think that when making dough or pancakes, clumping is a major inconvenience; I will not buy this product again. I am giving it three stars instead of one, because the product appears fresh and acceptable otherwise.

I have bought it for a different use than cooking. It is said that takes away the pains of the body. I filled small pillow cases with the powder, and keep them where it hurts (back, legs, etc...). It helps.
