Customers praised this versatile powder for its long shelf life, convenience, and authentic tangy flavor. Many use it in baking, soups, and on popcorn. "Great to have on hand" as a backup. Some noted it can be hard to mix and may have a slightly sweet or preserved aftertaste. A few felt it doesn't replicate fresh consistency perfectly, though most found it excellent for recipes.
- Mix this into sourdough bread with dried chives - makes the most wonderful loaf of bread
- Taste exactly like the one at the grocery store. No more throwing sour cream out due to getting old
- Great to have on hand, especially as a backup, when you run out of sour cream

I cannot understand the ratio to make it a cream. I’ve looked for more direction online, added more powder, and it’s pure liquid. Before I toss it out, can someone give me assistance? It’s a great premise but I am at a loss how to make it work. Thanks!
Looks good but no directions
No instructions, how much water to how many tablespoon to make a cup of sour cream.
Works when nothing else is available
Sour cream tastes good, this does not! So I didn't think this would taste as good as real sour cream but this was so bad I could not ear it. I had to throw it out. Gross!
It’s grainy when you mix and put in the fridge. I used in a casserole and it was good.
I was hoping that this item would have been more like real sour cream, but wasn’t.
as advertised
I like having this sour cream powder on hand to add to soups or to make sour cream for other uses. It has the tangy flavor I have come to expect from fresh but the benefit of being shelf stable and it doesn't mold if I forget about it. It does tend to have some lumps but they can be sifted and crushed. Sometimes there is a preserved after taste.
Really dissapointed with this. I've had other products from Hoosier Hill and was impressed. This, not so much. Didn't taste much like sour cream at all.
REally great to have on hand and for mixes. Quite often my sour cream goes bad, it's great to have a powder form for mixes and such. Flavor is a little strange if not mixed with something. good value considering how much sour cream i've wasted
I use it in baking and to make popcorn flavors. SC/dill is a favorite!
I'm sure it's what it's supposed to be , but it isn't what I thought it would be
Does not thicken up like sour cream, but will work in a pinch.
I bake a lot for my small b &b and scones are a staple of my menu baked with sour cream and sometimes I run out. This product is ok in a pinch but lacks the fat structure (I think) that the real stuff has. Scones were slightly drier than usual. Not great!
In a pinch this sour cream powder is okay but don’t expect this to taste or be like sour cream you buy in the store. I use it in cooking but again it doesn’t exactly taste like sour cream. It’s a good buy if you’re storing for doomsday scenarios though.
Smaller then expected , but good.
Canning a large batch of stroganoff, found that sour cream canning is tricky, tried the powdered sour cream, turned out almost like fresh!
Look for what can be done with it before you buy it. Not a lot of room for experimenting and creating something new.
It was hard to mix up, Use a blender if you want a well mixed product. It tasted great, was good on popcorn, and for making your own potato, kale, chips, smaller canester than i expected , my fault for not looking at the size. I would buy again.
I USE MILK INSTEAD OF WATER. MAKES IT TASTE MORE LIKE FRESH SOUR CREAM.
The flavor is so so..would be ok in casseroles I think but I would prefer fresh on baked potatoes etc…
So many baking recipes require sour cream, but it's not something I regularly keep in the house because it's not something I use otherwise. Although the powder smells awfully like sour dairy and the reconstituted sour cream is kind of grainy, it actually works out fine in baking recipes. So I'm happy to have this on hand for baking. Not sure how well I'd like it for dips -- the smell and texture are definitely not like fresh.
It's flavor as I make it wasn't as true, but I like it done the less.
Very surprised how easy this is to use
This is great to mix in with potatoes and butter and a little cream. Mash the potatoes well first. I keep forgetting I have it. I have also made whipping cream with it.
I like this for out door uses where there is no fridge, and you want to have sour cream on your food. It mixes well just follow the instruction, and there are recipes on line. Its good for your pantry and your wallet. The functionality of its purpose its great, like on home made potato chips and popcorn. It saves you money on the quantity. The size is perfect for a family of four on a monthly budget. This brand is a good quality, I have many uses for it. The package works well in the pantry and it doesn't take up a lot of space and it seals well and its easy to open.
I love using it with my personal seasonings but the taste alone is better then the sour creams you buy at the store
It's good but get the extra tangy one instead!
Good flavor but must be made ahead and chilled for best results
You know when you make mashed potatoes a half cup of sour cream makes your potatoes special my moms secret ingredient and they are in a reusable container with freshness every time great value
Love the cream cheese in my chaffles and cake
We use this in some recipes that call for this, and it works great. Love it
