This is the only pectin I will use. I have made thousands of jars of jellies and a 99 percent rate of satisfaction.

Not for low-sugar jam!

Amazon algorithm brought this up as a low sugar pectin. It is not. Tried twice, hot syrup both times

Special instructions not included on bag.

You need about 6 tablespoons to get the right consistency in your jam. This is different from the Four from traditional single packages. That being said, once you know how much to use it works great.

Great For Jelly

Made amazing grape jelly 😍 I make big batches and the container of pectin from my local grocery store was just too small and expensive. This big bag of pectin was affordable and my jelly set wonderfully, with lots of pectin left for future batches. This will definitely be my go-to pectin going forward!

No instructions

When I tried it my jelly did not thicken at all. It doesn't have measuring instructions unless you only use the recepie for the jelly on the package.

Runny preserves

I used this to make preserves and even added a tablespoon more than the recipe called for, but my preserves are still runny. I wont be buying this again. Im disappointed for sure.

Tough sell for those used to less-sugar pectin

I’ve I used the Sure-jell less sugar pectin for many years but thought I’d try to reduce my costs with bagged pectin. Tried this for the first time today, and I’m struggling with the amount of sugar their recipe calls for. I couldn’t bring myself to use the full 7 cups (!!!) of sugar for 5 cups of prepared fruit when I’m used to just under 3 cups. I used 5-1/2 cups of sugar and it jelled fine, but it’s incredibly sweet. I barely taste the fruit. I’m going to cut back even more for the next batch — down to 3 or 4 cups of sugar. If it doesn’t set, I’ll be offering this on NextDoor and spending on the boxed low-sugar pectin. YMMV: I’m making plum jam and I scrape down to the pits, which might help with the jelling.

This is powdered pectin

I couldn't find anywhere in the description that this was powdered pectin. I was looking for liquid pectin but I took a chance. I can't return it because I opened it.

I wanted to love this

I got this pectin earlier in June, after seeing the price of pectin in the stores this season. It arrived quickly and is a good price. Now for the issues. For context, I usually make 6-8 types of jam and jelly every year, well over 100 jars in a mix of half-pint and pints (I give them as gifts). I've had my jam/jelly take ribbons at the state fair. I'm not a novice; I've made a bit of jam/jelly in my nearly 60 years of life. I made 24 half-pints of black raspberry jelly and 23 half-pints of peach jam last weekend, and neither set up right using this pectin. Instead of a spreadable jam/jelly, both are more like a sundae topping. I made a PB&J with the black raspberry a couple days later, and it's a good thing I had an apron on, it was slipping right out of the sandwich dripping down the front of me. Don't get me wrong, it was black raspberry jelly, so heavenly good and worth a few stains. But I'm now struggling with whether I pop to tops off 47 jars and redo them, or just tell folks to use them as pancake syrup or ice cream topping. That was my entire crop of black raspberries for the year. Sigh. Maybe if you double the amount of pectin, this might work. I will experiment more with the red raspberries that are next up. I really wanted this to work out, without it becoming a 'test kitchen' situation.

I did not check the product description. Sugar wasn’t what I wanted.

I fully understand how some of the liability for my dissatisfaction in this product due to my not checking the ingredients list. Yet I cannot return this and I cannot eat it.I gave it to a friend who can consume sugar and she is not disappointed with her free product, even though she does not need the gut health benefits that I was searching for.

Works fine.

My bag was punctured when it arrived, pretty messy. I couldn’t reach seller as just contacting them wasn’t an option only a refund/return option which it kept popping up wasn’t available, but a damaged/replacement option would have been great! I did contact Amazon, no luck there which was disappointing so I just transferred the contents into another container. It is a LOT of pectin. If you are a heavy user, I’d go with a smaller portion. Aside from the bag puncture, it’s a quality product so far.

value

It's easy to use and works well for my homemade jam.

Affordable

My daughter and I had dozens of apricot jam to process. We wanted something more affordable than Sure-gel or Certo. This fit the bill. She bought a 2 pound bag, and we used most of it up. I liked it so much that I bought a 6 pound bag. We will order again.

Still trying

To get my jam right! I've made 2 batches with this, the first using 5 heaping TBS, and it came out like thick syrup, which is actually super bomby on waffles and ice cream - but not what I was going for. Second batch I used 7 heaping TBS and same thing! Totally could be operator error as these have been my first attempts, but I did everything by their instructions. Next time I'm trying 9 TBS lol

So far so good.

Used same amount as store bought brands and raspberry jam gelled up fine.

quality product

I only had issues with Prickly pear gelling. All of the other fruits gelled quickly.I made 5 batcges of prickly pear and none set. One batch gelled after 4 weeks 🤷Its a good product, just apparently not compatible with prickly pear.

Great product

Made delicious jams with this. Loved it!

I can not get this to set my jam.

This is the second bag of pectin I have tried. This Hoosier Farms pectin is very inexpensive so I thought I would give it a try. I have not had any success with my jam setting. It has many positive reviews so it may be my technique, but I have had great success with Ball pectin (twice the cost). I wish I knew how to use this pectin because of the price. I say you pay for what you get.

Note: this product lists dextrose as the first ingredient.

It also contains furmic acid as the third ingredient.

Does not include recipes

This pectin is a good value. It is much less expensive than the packets of Sure Jell. I guessed at how much to use in a recipe of blackberry jelly and I used way too much. It didn't affect the flavor, but it came out the consistency of jello. I am going to keep trying it with my recipes, but I really wish the company would include recipes or an accurate conversion chart.

As expected but had to google how to use….sigh.

Decent for the price

I've never had any brand other than sure gel set up good with the right amount every single time. Every other brand except that I've had to use a little more pectin, but this stuff did do a nice job. I add an additional tablespoon of pectin per recipe so for this stuff a box of sure gel is about 1/3 of a cup. I use 1/ 3 of a cup plus a tablespoon and it does fine. Much cheaper than the sure gel boxes.
